Make Your Mark on the Sioux Empire. Live United. Sioux Empire United Way.

Message From SEUW President

‘Tis the season of giving. I am very grateful for the generosity of the individuals and companies of the Sioux Empire. I know my gratitude is shared by all of our nonprofit directors, staff and the people we help.

There is a culture of giving here that is quite extraordinary! My thanks to each of you who have continued this tradition and who enrich our community through your financial gifts and your gift of time as a volunteer.

Merry Christmas!

Jay Powell
Sioux Empire United Way President

Area Students Collect Coins for Kids

For more than ten years, K-5 students in the Sioux Falls School District have participated in Sioux Empire United Way’s campaign through Coins for Kids. Again this year, students smashed their previous fundraising efforts, bringing in a total of $14,750…in coins! That’s almost a 13% increase over last year.

Thanks to Deb Thompson and her wonderful team of volunteers from The First National Bank in Sioux Falls for volunteering annually to spearhead this campaign, collect the coins and tally the total.

Fill in the blank:
When I learned about...

"United Way partners, Dolly Parton Imagination Library and the Children’s Inn,"

I thought this was “pretty awesome".

“My Heroes” when I was a freshman in high school were...

"my dad and Grandpa."

The people in my life who are “My Little Dears”...

"are my wife, because she’s always encouraging me, and my sons, who are always making me feel like a hero."

When I learned that...

"99% of funds raised locally, stay local to help fund over 90 agencies and programs in Sioux Falls and the region,"

I thought this was “Pretty Awesome".

“My Hero” when I was a freshman in high school was...

"my sister Carolyn. She was determined in developing her career in the energy industry, where not a lot of women were employed. She is very successful today and works for one of the largest energy companies on the planet as an Engineer Tech."

The people in my life who are “My Little Dears” are...

"my two children. They aren’t so ‘little’—my daughter is 12 and my son is 16. This is a very interesting stage in both of their lives with more responsibilities and important decisions to make—especially for my son as he prepares for high school graduation and furthering his education."
